Technical indicators are essential tools for identifying market trends, momentum shifts and potential entry & exit points. Our platform makes it simple to layer multiple indicators onto your charts without much complexity. So, whether you're analysing price action for research or testing trading strategies, adding the right indicators takes just a few clicks. This guide walks you through the process step-by-step.
Add a Technical Indicator
Step 1: Open Fintevo Platform & Login
Step 2: Open the Add Elements / Widgets Panel
Click the grid / layout icon near the top-right corner of your main toolbar (⊞ or similar square icon) to open the widgets panel and add elements to your dashboard:
Step 3: Add a Chart
In the widgets panel, click on the "Chart" element:
Step 4: Select an Instrument to Analyse
In the top-left corner of your new chart, you'll see an instrument selector (showing a symbol like "AAPL" or "Select Instrument"). Click it to choose which instrument you want to analyse and type the instrument name or symbol to search.
Step 5: Click the "Add Indicator" Button
Once your selected symbol's chart loads, click on "Add Indicators":
Step 6: Search for or Browse Indicators
Search for a specific indicator or browse all available indicators:
Click the search box at the top that says "Type name of indicator to search"
Type the indicator name you're looking for
Some examples:
Type "RSI" to find Relative Strength Index
Type "Moving" to see all moving average variations
Type "Bollinger" to find Bollinger Bands
Step 7: Click on Your Chosen Indicator
Find the indicator you want in the list
Click on it to expand its details and description
Click the purple "Add" button at the bottom to add it to your chart
How to Add Multiple Indicators
To add more than one indicator to the same chart:
Repeat Steps 5-7 for each additional indicator
Click "Add Indicator" again for each new indicator you want
Select a different indicator from the list
Each new indicator stacks on the chart
You can add as many as you need
Best practices: Start with 2-3 indicators
Add more only if they actually improve your analysis.
Too many indicators (10+) can make the chart confusing and could possibly cause performance issues.
How to Add Indicators to Your Favourites
To quickly find indicators you use regularly:
Open the Indicators panel (Step 5 above).
Look for the star icon (☆) next to any indicator.
Click the star to mark it as a favourite (it turns filled: ★).
Once favourited, your indicators appear in the dedicated "Favourites" category on the left panel, saving you time and keeping your most-used analysis tools just one click away.
You now have the foundation to build customised charts tailored to your analysis style. As you experiment with different indicator combinations, remember that the most effective trading setups are those that perfectly align with your strategy and market outlook.
